zài gēn bié rén dǎ jiāo dào de guò chéng zhōng,yóu yú zhóng zhǒng yuán yīn, hěn duō shí hou wǒ men nán miǎn huì bèi wèn dào yì xiē zì jǐ bù xiǎng huí dá shèn zhì shì hěn bù xǐ huan de wèn tí。”nǐ duō dà le?”yí dìng shì yí gè fēi cháng cháng jiàn yòu diǎn xíng de wèn tí。zài zhōng guó shēng huó gōng zuò,nǐ yí dìng huì yù dào nà me jǐ gè rén wèn nǐ zhè ge wèn tí。zài zhè zhǒng qíng kuàng xià,nǐ huì zěn me huí dá ne?

In the process of dealing with others, we will inevitably be asked questions that we do not want to answer or even dislike for various reasons. “How old are you?” must be a very common and typical question. Living and working in China, you are bound to encounter several people asking you this question. In that case, what would you say?

jīn tiān wǒ men jiù lái kàn kan zhòng guó rén zěn me huí dá zhè ge wèn tí。

Today we’ll see how Chinese people answer this question.

A:nǐ duō dà le?

A:how old are you?

B1:”duì bù qǐ,zhè shì wǒ de yǐn sī。”

B1: “sorry, this is my privacy.”

B2:“ nǐ wèi shén me wèn wǒ zhè ge wèn tí? ”

B2 :”why do you ask me this question?”

B3:“ wǒ bù néng gào su nǐ。”

B3: “I can’t tell you.”

shǒu xiān wǒ xiǎng shuō míng de yì diǎn shì,hěn duō shí hou,dāng yí gè zhōng guó rén wèn nǐ zhè ge wèn tí de shí hou,qiān wàn bú yào bú zì jué de yǐ wéi tā bù zūn zhòng nǐ,jué de nǐ bù nián qīng le,huò zhě bié de shén me。dāng rán bāo kuò hěn duō zhōng guó rén zì jǐ,tè bié shì zhōng guó de nǚ hái zi zài bèi wèn dào zhè ge wèn tí de shí hou,yě huì bù xiǎng huí dá,dàn shì nǐ kě néng huì màn man fā xiàn,tā men hěn shǎo huì biǎo xiàn chū hěn fán gǎn de qíng xù,nǎ pà tā men bù xiǎng bèi wèn dào zhè ge wèn tí。yīn wèi dà jiā dōu rèn wéi tài zhí jiē de shèn zhì shì fǒu dìng de  huí dá cháng cháng huì ràng tí wèn zhě gǎn dào gān gà。

The first thing I want to make clear is that when a Chinese person asks you this question in many cases, don’t automatically feel that he doesn’t respect you, or you are not young, or something else. Of course, many Chinese people, especially Chinese girls, will also not want to answer this question, but you may gradually find that they rarely show negative feelings, even if they don’t want to be asked this question.Because everyone thinks that too direct or even negative answers often makes the questioner feel embarrassed.

nà me,xià mian wǒ men jiù lái kàn kan jǐ zhǒng diǎn xíng de zhōng guó shì de huí dá fāng fǎ。

Well, let’s take a look at a few typical Chinese-style responses.

hěn duō shí hou,dà jiā bèi wèn dào zhè yàng de wèn tí dōu huì xiào yí xià,rán hòu zhè me shuō:

In many cases, people will laugh frist when they are asked this question. Then they will say something like this:

1、”nǐ cāi! ”zhè shì yì zhǒng bǐ jiào kě ài de huí dá fāng shì,hěn duō nián jì qīng yì xiē de nǚ háir xǐ huan yòng zhè zhǒng fāng shì huí dá,ké yǐ zài yú kuài qīng sōng de fēn wéi zhōng huà jiě gān gà。

“You guess!”. This is a lovely way to answer. Many younger girls like to answer in this way, which can help them overcome their embarrassment in a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere.

2、”wǒ jīn nián 18 suì ya”。hěn duō nián líng dà yī xiē de nǚ háir xǐ huan yòng zhè zhǒng fāng shì huí dá,tè bié shì nián líng zài 30 suì zuǒ yòu de nǚ háir。zhè zhǒng kāi wán xiào de huí dá fāng shì néng ràng dà jiā zài huān xiào zhōng zì rán tiào guò zhè ge ràng rén jué de gān gà de wèn tí。

“I’m 18 years old!”. Many older girls like to answer in this way, especially girls around the age of 30. This joking way of answering allows everyone to skip this embarrassing question naturally in laughter.

3 .” wǒ duō dà le? qí shí hòu lái wǒ dōu wàng jì zì jǐ duō dà le!”zhè zhǒng huí dá qí shí àn shì zuò dá de rén qī wàng nǐ ké yǐ gèng duō guān xīn tā nián líng yǐ wài de shì qíng,yīn wèi duì tā men lái shuō nián líng bìng bù néng dài biǎo shén me,tā men de nèi zài cái shì zhēn zhèng de mèi lì suǒ zài。

“How old am I? In fact, even I forgot how old I am !”. This kind of response implies that the person is expecting that you can pay more attention to things beyond her age, because age doesn’t mean anything to them, and their inner being is the real charm.

nà rú guǒ nǐ fēi cháng xiǎng zhī dào duì fāng de nián líng de huà,zěn me yàng hán xù de wèn bié rén ne?xià mian shì jǐ zhǒng nǐ ké yǐ shì yi shì de jǐ zhǒng fāng fǎ:

What if you really want to know the age of the other person, how do you ask others implicitly? Here are a few ways you can try:

1. nǐ shǔ shén me de?zhōng guó rén cháng cháng ké yǐ gēn jù yí gè rén de shǔ xiàng zhǔn què tuī suàn chū duì fāng de nián líng。

What is your Chinese animal zodiac? Chinese people can often work out exactly how old a person is based on their Chinese animal zodiac .

2. ké yǐ wèn tā dú jǐ nián jí le。yīn wèi dà jiā zài bù tóng de xué xí jiē duàn de nián líng jī běn dōu shì yí yàng de,suó yǐ rú guǒ nǐ ké yǐ zhī dào yí gè rén dú jǐ nián jí le,nà me nǐ yě jī běn shàng ké yǐ zhī dào tā de nián líng le。

You can ask him what grade he’s in. Because everyone is basically the same age at different stages of study,if you can find out what grade someone is in, you can find out how old they are.

3. rú guǒ duì fāng yǐ jīng bì yè le,nà nǐ ké yǐ wèn wèn tā gōng zuò jǐ nián le。yì bān lái shuō hěn duō rén dà xué bì yè shí de nián líng dōu shì gù dìng de,rú guǒ zhī dào tā gōng zuò jǐ nián le, nà tuī suàn chū tā de nián líng yě jiù bú shì shén me nán shì ér le。

If the person has already graduated, you can ask him how many years he have been working. In general, most people graduate from college at a fixed age. If you know how many years they’ve been working, it is not difficult to figure out how old they are.

4. rú guǒ duì fāng nián líng bǐ jiào dà,nǐ ké yǐ wèn tā:“èr shí nián qián nǐ zài zuò shén me?” ,ér nián líng kàn qǐ lái xiǎo de zé ké yǐ wèn:“shí nián qián zài zuò shén me?” 。

If the other person is older, you can ask him: “What are you doing twenty years ago?”, but if he is younger ,you can ask: “What are you doing ten years ago?”.

zǒng zhī,bú lùn nǐ yòng shén me fāng shì lái wèn,yí dìng yào yǒu lǐ mào,bú yào wèn de tài tū rán,yí miǎn yín qǐ tā rén de fán gǎn。

In short, no matter how you ask, be polite and don’t ask too suddenly,so as not to cause others’ dislike.

zhè jiù shì jīn tiān wǒ yào gēn nǐ fēn xiǎng de nèi róng,xī wàng duì nǐ yǒu bāng zhù。

That’s what I want to share with you today, and hope it helps.
